Recess with: Munich

Speilbergs academy Award Nominated Munich.

The formula is simple enough: Arab terrorists kill Israelis at the 1972 Olympic games in Munich and then Israelis send a team of assassins all over Europe to blow up Arabs. Now how do you mess that up? It's Jews with bombs for crying out loud, it should be great! But alas things aren't, and I question why. Munich is the first movie I've seen where I was truly able to predict the 'movie formula', there are no surprises in store for those that will watch this, you can plainly see everything coming and wow is it ever boring. Munich is painfully uninteresting and it hurt me to have to go through it mainly because it really should not have been this boring. The only conclusion I've been able to come up with as to how it was nominated for Best Picture is that Spielberg must have bribed a lot of people and slept with many, many more. Munich is complete bull poopie, it's only saving graces are A) Peter Sellers pops in now and again to yell and shout and wave his arms about, and B) That brief moment when paranoia kicked in... Everything put aside though, I just found this movie very dry and 'Spielbergy' with all the added tension scenes, scenes of group coming togetherness, scenes of group falling apartness, scenes of things going wrong when you know they will, and scenes of "oh my god- i never would have guess blowing things up would hurt anybody". Talking about Munich I have to point out some good movies that you should see, let me assure you that Munich doesn't even come close to touching the style or originality of either Crash or Good Night And Good Luck, both of which were also nominated for best picture. I like Spielberg but he clearly didn't give his hundered percent with this movie which, and I stress agian, pains me. He has an excellent theme to talk about, which is the Israelites fight for a free Palestine, and he just makes it repetitive and boring.

Spielberg, Spielberg, Speilberg
... my advice for you is to lay off the Jews and aliens for awhile and get back to whatever it was you were doing before. Wait, Isn't he trying to make another Indiana Jones? Jeez... just where is this guy's head at?
